MAGNESIUM DEPLETION SCORES

A study published in The Journal of Clinical Endocrinology and Metabolism analyzed data from 15,565 participants looking specifically at kidney reabsorption related magnesium depletion scores (MDS) and metabolic syndrome, and found that a higher MDS was significantly associated with increased odds of metabolic syndrome.

Each unit increase in MDS was associated with approximately a 30% higher risk for metabolic syndrome, even after adjusting for confounding factors.

Researchers concluded that higher urinary magnesium loss may be an independent linear risk factor for metabolic syndrome in US adults.

This means optimizing magnesium nutritional status could potentially benefit patients with metabolic syndrome. Which i am all in favor of as i have seen many people are not getting adequate magnesium through diet alone and leading to poor sleep, higher stress levels, headaches and more.

Pumpkin seeds, chia seeds, almonds, spinach and black beans are a few great sources.
